On Thursday November 7th the sun shone on Walsall Tree Wardens and Year 6 pupils from Whetstone Fields Primary School as they helped the Clean and Green Team to plant one hundred and fifty fruit trees on the old airport site. To conclude the planting everyone celebrated the event with apple juice and wished each other and the trees 'Wassail' (Good Health).
A GROUP THAT CAN SEE THE WOOD FOR THE TREES - Walsall Tree Wardens are a voluntary group of local people who share a respect and affinity with trees of all species. Apart from local events Wardens often attend courses outside the immediate area to learn more about woodland and the management of trees. Wardens act as the eyes and ears of the local community looking out for potential problems and bringing issues to the attention of the appropriate authorities.
